Time Warp Rolls Royce – 604 Miles
A Delivery-Mile Survivor
Introduced in 1965, the Silver Shadow was a revolutionary step forward for Rolls-Royce, featuring the brand’s first unitary chassis construction and an advanced high-pressure hydropneumatic suspension system licensed from Citroën. By the time this particular car was built in 1977 the final year of Silver Shadow I production before the heavier-bumpered Mark II took over the model had become the definitive symbol of British luxury.

While most Silver Shadows were driven extensively by captains of industry, celebrities, and royalty, this Chestnut Brown example was treated differently. Originally purchased from P.J. Evans in Birmingham, it saw the majority of its brief road time in its first few months before being tucked away. It was brought out fleetingly in the following decades notably to be used at a family wedding before being placed into specialised, long term storage in a climate controlled garage, suspended on axle stands to preserve its original tyres. Consequently, the odometer has crept up to just 604 miles over the last 49 years.

Factory Fresh Detailing
According to auction previews, the car retains all of its factory original finishes and is accompanied by its original sales invoice, book pack, and literature. Classic car enthusiasts can expect to see:
-
Flawless Paintwork: The exterior retains its original deep, mirror like factory finish, preserved under a tailored cover to prevent any deterioration.
-
Unblemished Brightwork: The iconic stainless steel radiator grille, topped by the Spirit of Ecstasy, and the chrome bumpers remain in pristine condition.
-
Preserved Interior: The cabin is a masterclass in period British luxury, featuring untouched Connolly leather hides, deep pile Wilton wool carpets, and un faded, hand-polished walnut veneers that still retain their original factory scent.

Under the bonnet sits the legendary 6.75 litre V8 engine, paired with a smooth automatic gearbox. Ahead of the sale, the vehicle has undergone a gentle mechanical recommissioning in May 2026, receiving a fresh battery and a completely cleaned-out fuel system with a new fuel pump, filters, and hoses to ensure it starts and runs willingly. However, specialists note that more thorough recommissioning will be required if the next owner intends to put it back on the open road.
A Serious Collector’s Piece with Eye-Catching Estimates
Finding a Silver Shadow with fewer than 1,000 miles is an exceedingly rare event in the classic car market. Because these cars were built to be driven, the vast majority have covered significant distances. A survivor of this calibre, kept by a single custodian from new, is expected to draw significant international interest from serious investors and museum curators alike.
The Silver Shadow I will go under the hammer on Wednesday 17th June 2026 at Kelham Hall in Nottinghamshire. Reflecting its unprecedented condition and “time warp” status, experts have attached a pre-sale estimate of £70,000 to £90,000.
